Ping Pong Tables

Ping pong tables, also referred to as table tennis tables, are the tables where the game of ping pong is played. When considering a ping pong table there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, where is the game to be played? Do you need an indoor or an outdoor table? Most are made of wood but outdoor tables often have a thin layer of weatherproof material such as aluminum overlay.

The thickness is also important. A thicker table will better resist warping and allows for a truer, more consistent bounce. The thickness of the frame affects durability as well. A thicker frame will often be more durable, but its okay if a table has thinner legs provided there are crossbeams for support.

Some ping pong tables are able to be folded for storage. A good feature for young children or inexperienced players is the playback folding option. This allows for one half of the table to be folded up to create a backboard against which a single player can bounce the ball, acting as a sort of stand in partner. For storage you can simply fold up the other side. Wheels are available on some tables for easy moving and storage. Two or four wheeled tables are available. Whether you keep your table set up all the time or decide you want to stow it, wheels are a good idea. It is a lot easier to move even a table from one end of the room to the other with wheels.

Consider the net when deciding upon a ping pong table. Look for a net with soft coverings where it comes in contact with the table so the finish doesn't scratch, being sure the clamps don't damage the table. Sticky felt patches can also be used.

Ping Pong tables, also known as tennis tables started in the 12th century. In the 1880s, was known as indoor tennis. Ping-pong became fashionable in England. First table was made in England, and included the table version of lawn tennis, cricket and football. In 1901, the American rights to the name Ping-Pong was sold to the biggest game board makers.
