Billiard Balls

Every owner knows that a pool table without a set of cues and pool balls is practically useless. Cue sports like pool, billiards, snooker, and carom all require ball sets in order to begin gameplay. However, each game variation is played with sets composed of different numbers of balls, sizes, colors, patterns, and weights.

Games of carom are played using 3 balls; 1 red object ball that is hit by the cue balls: 1 completely white ball for the first player, and either a white ball with a dot or a yellow ball for the second player. In contrast to other billiard games, carom can be played on pool tables with or without pockets.

American pool table game variants use anywhere from 7-15 object balls and 1 cue ball during gameplay; for a total of 16. Of these, the first 7 numbered pool balls are called "solids", the black ball is known as the "8-Ball", and the remaining numbered balls are referred to as "stripes".

In contrast to American-style sets, British pool, or “Blackball” sets come with 16 balls: 7 reds, 7 yellows, 1 white cue ball, and 1 black “8-Ball.” Finally, Snooker ball sets are composed of 15 red, as well as 6 others; each one with a different color.

All of these "cue sport" variants are popular in different regions of the globe, and except for some carom games can played on the same pool tables. This flexibility means that you can purchase different pool accessory ball kits for different billiard games, yet play them all on the same pool table!
