7 Foot Pool Tables
7 foot pool tables are not used for tournament play, according to the World Pool-Billiard Associations (WPA). They are great for the home, though. Not everyone has room for a 9 foot pool table. If you are looking for a quality pool table that will fit into the home, then a 7 foot pool table might be right for you.The playing surface of 7 foot pool tables is 76 x 38 in. There is a 1/8th inch margin of error allowed on all dimensions. The height of the table is usually between 29 1/4 and 31 inches, and the corner pocket mouths 4.5 and 4.625 inches. Traditionally, side pockets will measure 1/2 inch wider than the corners.
Most billiard tables today use a fiberboard top, but regulation play demands that the pool table playing surface be made of slate, coming in three sections, that is of a specific thickness, and attached in a particular manner to the supporting structure of the table.
Although not used for tournament play, 7 foot pool tables use the same equipment as longer pool tables. Pool balls typically range from 5.5 to 6 ounces in weight and are about 2.25 inches in diameter. Cue can still be 48, 52, or 57 inches. It is important to remember how large of a space your pool table will occupy, as cue length affects how large of a room is required for comfortable play. Refer to the chart below as a guide.
